America's Hometown

About Plymouth

Just over a mile south of Light House Point lies the historic town of Plymouth, founded by the Pilgrims in 1620. Plimoth Plantation stands as a proud monument to our earliest settlers. Other sites within a short distance are Plymouth Rock, the Jenney Grist Mill, 1677 Harlow Old Fort House and the Mayflower II. Today, nearly four centuries later, this vibrant community is home to 55,000 year-round residents.

Living at Light House Point in Plymouth will feel like you’re on vacation every day. From museums to golf to shopping, you’ll find activities that appeal to every taste. Enjoy a gourmet meal overlooking the harbor. Hire a charter boat to go deep sea or sport fishing. Enjoy parasailing, antiquing, or gallery hopping. The town even boasts its own symphony orchestra, the critically acclaimed Plymouth Philharmonic, which has been presenting a regular series of concerts for nearly a hundred years.

The future of Plymouth has a sense of excitement. With its upcoming 400th anniversary, plans are underway to transform the town to accommodate all those who will visit, and to celebrate the unique history of the town. Other plans that have sprung up as a result of the spotlight on Plymouth include continued construction at Cordage Park. While the property is home to over 60 businesses and organizations, future plans for the 55-acre waterfront office campus is to convert the waterfront mill buildings into a marina based mixed-use facility. This master-planned community, which will collectively be referred to as The Seaport at Cordage, will include a marina, residential condominiums and rentals, office and flex space, plus waterfront retail and restaurants.
